This ensign was made for King Kalakaua on his maiden voyage with the ship "Kaimiloa" and was encompanied by the first ever Royal Hawaiian Navy to help form a confederation of Polynesian islands to counteract European imperialism in 1887. Things didn't go as planned as history went and  I wanted to bring forward this design once again to show the strength of the Kingdom of Hawaii and what still is it's navy within our kanaka as we sail into the future with reverence for our home and aloha in our hearts.
